SUMMARY:Cemetery Tours
DESCRIPTION:Did you know we have 10* Revolutionary War Veterans buried right here in North Ridgeville?  This weekend you can explore a little about these men and their lives in a self-guided tour of both Ridgeville Cemetery (on Center Ridge) and Fields Cemetery (on Lorain Road).  There is little to no parking at either site\, so visitors are asked to follow the signs that will direct them to specified entrance and exit driveways for each location to help with parking.  Gravesites will be designated with a tall flag and a brochure will be available for visitors.  Times for the event will be 8:00 am to 8:00 pm each day- rain or shine. \nFields Cemetery has one gravesite \nCenter Ridge Cemetery has nine gravesites \n  \n*An additional veteran\, who lived many years here in town is buried elsewhere with family members\, however he was the father\, grandfather\, and uncle of many of our residents.  We claim him as one of  “our own”. \nField’s Cemetery is located at 34100 Lorain Rd.  (across the street from Field’s United Methodist Church) \nRidgeville Center Cemetery is located at 36330 Center Ridge (at the corner of Stoney Ridge and across the street from the Congregational Church)

SUMMARY:Open House at District #9 Schoolhouse
DESCRIPTION:It’s a hot summer day\, and – although students in the past wouldn’t have been in class in July- YOU can see what it would have been like to attend class in a true one-room school.  Our schoolmarm will explain the school day to you and how life would have been for a typical student in the late 1800-early 1900s.  Stop by for a visit. \nNote- the school is not handicap accessible\, however there is a railing to help with the 2 steps at the entrance/exit.

SUMMARY:Ohio Open Doors
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered what attending school was like 100 years ago?   As part of Ohio’s Open Doors  initiative\, the District #9 Schoolhouse will be open two extra days this month.  Open Doors encourages Ohio’s museums to open their doors for free access to their venues to encourage appreciation of our State’s rich heritage sites.  Because our Schoolhouse is always free\, we are offering additional times and different days than usual to allow you to visit on a weekday and Saturday.  Mark your calendars for September 11th and 12th from 10-4 each day.  This is your opportunity to explore the building and grounds (including outhouses) on your own and really get the true experience of an “old school” education.  Members will be on hand to answer any questions you might have.  Parking is limited\, but nearby side street parking is available.
